Year 6  and SATs

Year 6 work very hard every year to demonstrate how much they’ve progressed and what they will take beyond our school. We want to make sure that they are fully prepared for the statutory tests and support them by providing a booster club. This takes place once a week after school from September until the week before the SATs. Not only is it a chance to embed learning but it is a great way to develop good relationships. It has been extremely successful and the children enjoy time as a year group to discuss any difficulties they may have been experiencing (and have a treat or two!).

By Year 6 the children take greater ownership of their learning. They are encouraged to identify what they need to do for themselves in order to progress and move forward. They enjoy an investigative and problem solving approach, which provides challenge and depth.

They also take more responsibility in class by leading learning and setting the best examples across school. They are well prepared for secondary school with homework and learning diaries.

It makes us very proud watching these children, who started as Acorns, move on at the end of the year as Mighty Oaks!
